MEng Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems

Course Overview

Liverpool John Moores University MEng Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems is an integrated master's degree that combines mechanical, electronic and control engineering. The program helps to meet the engineering demands in the industry with a combination of skills in developing modern systems of automation, from robots building cars and interactive kiosks. The curriculum is developed with input from North West engineering companies to make sure graduates have software and hardware skills. The course has a sandwich year with an industrial placement or a study abroad option and is set to be accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Well-equipped electronics and computing laboratories with state-of-the-art software and an excellent level of technical support are available in the course. Students’ progress is assessed through exams, coursework work and a portfolio of work, with a final year project which takes a large value in the final grading. Tutors offer constructive and timely feedback through the virtual learning environment, either in-person or in writing, to enable their students to realise their areas of strength and areas that require more work.

Entry Requirements

Candidates need to submit a personal statement and a relevant academic and/or employer reference. They can also upload their CV to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need a minimum of 96 UCAS tariff points, including A-levels, T-levels, BTECs, and the International Baccalaureate. The university accepts International qualifications that are equivalent to A-levels.

English Proficiency: 

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds must have an IELTS overall score of 6.0, with no section score below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification, such as the TOEFL or PTE.

Cost of Study

International students pay £18,250 as an annual tuition fee for the MEng Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems at Liverpool John Moores University.

Scholarships

Liverpool John Moores University offers scholarships to overseas postgraduate students in the form of tuition fee reductions. The university also works with external funding bodies. Students may also be eligible for the International Achievement Scholarship, which provides a partial tuition fee scholarship of £3,000 per year of postgraduate study. This is automatically awarded to self-funded students who meet the progression grades from the LJMU International Study Centre and do not have other external funding.
