Course overview
The BSc Business Management with Foundation Year at Liverpool John Moores University is designed for individuals who wish to study the full degree but do not currently meet the necessary grade requirements. At the end of the foundation year, you’ll be able to transition into the full degree and learn how to manage a business from start to finish.
Through this course, you’ll gain the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to transform an idea into a successful business. You’ll learn how to manage people, oversee marketing operations, understand project management and planning, and carry out financial projections using the latest tools.
During the programme, you’ll work on business simulations with other students to create strategies that work. You’ll also take on live consultancy projects, collaborating with real businesses and organisations to solve real-world management challenges.
To emphasise practical learning, the course offers an optional placement year where you can gain hands-on experience in the real world. Learning and teaching methods during the course include both offline and online approaches, such as traditional lectures, presentations, seminars, guest speeches, and various other techniques tailored to your specific modules.
Assessment is also adapted to each course to maximise student potential, but it generally includes a combination of coursework and examinations. You may also encounter other forms of assessment, such as presentations, group work, and written and oral examinations. Finally, to successfully earn your degree, you will conduct a dissertation.
