BA Health and Social Care

Course Overview

Liverpool John Moores University’s BA Health and Social Care teaches students the importance of healthy living, as well as the different ways they can be useful to society. This course leans into medicine, and students learn how to diagnose and prescribe drugs for patients. They will also engage in practical sessions to help them understand the course content.

In this programme, students will learn about mental health, community health, pharmacology, public health, and biostatistics. They will also apply the theories on community health to provide care for patients, ranging from infants to young children, teenagers, adults, and elderly people. During this course, students will understand how outdoor sessions work where they move from one location to another to run checkups on people, and possibly provide drugs, clothing, and food.

Learning in this course is through lectures, laboratory sessions, seminars, and conferences. Assessment is done through examinations, lab reports, periodic tests, and a group project.
