BA Events Management

Course Overview

The BA Events Management at Liverpool John Moores University is a three-year full-time course and helps students gain a well-rounded understanding of event management. The programme is recognised by the Association of Events Management Education (AEME) and covers important areas like events planning, marketing, sponsorship, and sustainability. Students can also choose to do a year-long work placement or study in another country to gain practical skills and a global view.

Some of the core modules included in the course are The Events Industry, Event Operations, Creative Event Design, Strategic Event Management, and Marketing for Tourism and Events. Students are evaluated through practical work, written assignments, portfolios, and presentations. About University

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) was founded in 1823 as the Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts. It is located in Liverpool, England, and has a Silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). The university is also ranked third in the UK for degrees in hospitality, leisure, recreation, and tourism (according to The Times UK University Rankings 2025).

LJMU has a strong research reputation, with 73% of its work rated as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ (REF 2021). The university is currently building the world’s largest robotic telescope, which costs about £30 million and will provide great educational opportunities through the National Schools Observatory. Additionally, LJMU is involved in 14 research projects funded by Innovate UK, focusing on advances in AI for heart disease detection and the development of electric ships.

Entry Requirements

Grade Requirements:

Applicants are required to have equivalent qualifications to A Levels, with at least BBC grades. This can include the International Baccalaureate diploma or a BTEC with DMM grades.

English Proficiency:

Candidates whose primary language is not English should have an overall IELTS score of at least 6.0, with no individual skill component below 5.5. The test should have been completed in the two years leading up to the start of the course.

Cost of Study

For the academic year 2025/26, the tuition fee for international students in the Liverpool John Moores University BA Events Management programme is set at £17,750 per year. Adding a placement year will cost students an additional £3,830. Please keep in mind that these rates can change annually.

Scholarships

Liverpool John Moores University supports international students with several undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships. Self-funded international students can automatically receive a scholarship of up to £4,000. There is also a £500 discount for students who pay their fees early. This discount is applied to the first year of tuition fees.
