BA Early Childhood Studies

With the 3-year full-time BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies at Liverpool John Moores University, students gain the knowledge and skills required to grasp the growth, development, and well-being of young children. In this course, students will study core aspects of early childhood, psychology, sociology, education, social welfare, health, and well-being. Additionally, they will take part in research activities, volunteering, and work-related practice in both traditional and non-traditional early years settings. All these will equip students with the theoretical knowledge and practical experience to work in professional roles.

Teaching and learning for this degree takes place in the university’s Education Building and combines lectures, tutorials, optional modules, research projects, and placements. All these are delivered by experts who support students throughout. Students will also gain valuable experience through international placements and volunteering with the university’s strong links. Assessment comes mainly in the form of coursework, including essays, reflective pieces, and project work. These are combined with examinations.

Applicants must meet the following requirements to study BA Early Childhood Studies at Liverpool John Moores University:

Grade Requirements:

• To apply, individuals must have a minimum of 80 UCAS points. These points must come from a combination of level 3 qualifications such as A-levels, BTECs, International Baccalaureate, and other equivalent qualifications.

English Proficiency:

• Non-native English speakers may need to demonstrate proficiency in the language, typically through an IELTS score of at least 6.0. TOEFL or other equivalents are also allowed.

Liverpool John Moores University charges £17,750 for tuition for the 2025/2026 academic year for the BA in Early Childhood Studies program.

Accommodation charges and other individual expenses are not covered by this, though. Additionally, before receiving a CAS, international students are required to pay a £5,000 down payment.

Liverpool John Moores University offers financial aid, including scholarships and flexible payment plans, to a large number of students. For instance, international students who cover their own tuition are automatically given a £4,000 scholarship. Following a £5,000 down payment, international students can pay the tuition in two to three instalments.
