MSci Physiotherapy

Course Overview

The MSci Physiotherapy with integrated Masters at Keele University is a four-year degree programme. It trains students to become confident, caring physiotherapists. Students learn how to help people regain movement, grow strength, and feel better about their everyday life. The course places patients at the heart of learning. Anatomy, movement science, and therapeutic techniques are all part of the teaching. As they progress, students also gain leadership and research abilities. This means that they finish the course both as skilled clinicians and effective managers in healthcare.

The programme builds skills year by year. Year 1 gives students a strong base in anatomy and basic clinical handling. In Years 2 and 3, students spend lots of time in real hospitals and clinics, using advanced therapy techniques. By Year 4, leadership, patient care strategy, and research become the main focus. Students also spend time in advanced placements and take management training. Throughout the four years, research evidence guides how students learn to care for patients so that by the end of the course, they are ready for senior roles in the NHS or private sector with confidence and expertise.

Learning comes from a mix of methods. Students attend lectures, take part in small seminars, practise anatomy in labs, and work on placements. Teachers include experienced physiotherapists, university lecturers, and researchers, all registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. To assess learning, students complete written tasks, practical demonstrations, and reflective journal entries. They also give presentations and receive placement performance reviews. In the final year, students might choose either a leadership or research project. This allows them to explore a topic in physiotherapy or healthcare leadership more deeply.
