MSc Applied Psychology

Course Overview

The MSc Applied Psychology programme is for students who desire to become psychologists, and it is for other professionals who want to learn more about the field. The programme will give them a good foundation in the main areas of psychology, and they will look at how psychology is used in the media, international politics, research, and new technologies.

Students will experiment through practical workshops, case analysis, role-playing, and simulations. They will be taught through lectures, seminars, tutorials, and presentations, and will be assessed using presentations, case formulations, case studies, essays, and written reflections. The programme offers students a work placement year.

Entry Requirements

Candidates need to submit a personal statement and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, and their CVs to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates need a 2:2 or above undergraduate degree in a relevant subject.
  • An international equivalent to an undergraduate degree may be accepted.

English Proficiency:

  • Candidates should submit an overall score of 6.5 in the IELTS test, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
  • PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The international students’ tuition fee for the MSc Applied Psychology programme at Coventry University is £18,600. Note that this is subject to change yearly.

Scholarships

Coventry University has some scholarships for international postgraduate students including, the Vice-Chancellor Postgraduate Scholarship, which gives students £2,500 off their tuition fees if they start in November 2025, January 2026, or March 2026 - it is open to all international students except those from the EU or UK, and they do not need to apply separately, the university will check if they are eligible when they accept their offer.

The Alumni Discount gives a 25% discount on course fees for students who have graduated from Coventry University, which is automatic. EU students might be eligible for the EU Support Bursary, which brings their tuition fees down to the same rate as UK students, and it is applied automatically. Finally, the Sports Scholarships give them £1,500 or £3,000, with extra support, but they need to apply for this one separately, and it is only for students starting in September 2025.
