BSc Public Health

Course Overview

The BSc Public Health (Foundation + Degree) is an extension of the BSc Public Health (Undergraduate) programme at Coventry University. This course takes four years, because students undergo a foundation year where they gain the necessary skills to progress onto degree-level study. In this programme, students learn modules like introduction to public health, leadership and management in public health, community development and engagement, which equip them into caregivers who cater for the health of a population.

This programme also includes a work placement option or study overseas plan through the additional year, to help students get familiar with the course content, the workplace where their knowledge is needed, and build relational skills to work with people. Additionally, it focuses on public health and community development, equipping students with the skills to work in public health and healthcare at local and international levels.

Learning in this course is through lectures, seminars, and one-on-one discussions with public health experts, brainstorming sessions, laboratory exercises, and field visits to health organisations. Assessment methods include lab reports, tests, assignments, examinations, and a final-year project.
