BSc Business Computing Social Media

Course Overview

The Brunel University London Business Computing (Social Media) programme looks into how social media has transformed modern business and human connection. It examines how the internet has evolved to provide services and technologies that companies can leverage as commercial tools.

Students will gain a deep understanding of essential business applications such as Skype, Facebook, and Twitter, learning to assess organisational problems and apply effective computing solutions. The course also teaches how information systems must adapt to the changes and developments inherent in business growth.

Through a balanced mixture of theoretical study and practical application, students are prepared to address complex computing issues in today's organisations. A significant portion of each academic year is dedicated to project-based learning, including team projects in the earlier years and an individual project in the final year.

These projects can be showcased at the annual Made in Brunel (Software Innovation) event. The programme is accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), the Chartered Institute for IT, helping graduates meet the academic requirements for becoming a Chartered IT Professional. An optional year-long work placement is also available.
