MSc Business Analytics
Course overview
The Master of Science (MSc) in Business Analytics at Birkbeck, University of London, will give you the ability to look closely at information and use it to make good business choices. The course brings together technical skills in understanding data with real-world knowledge of how companies use information to plan what they do and how well they are performing.
During the course, you'll learn about things like examining data using a computer program called R, creating visual representations of data, looking at data related to marketing, and making forecasts based on data. You'll also write a long essay, called a dissertation, on a business analytics subject that interests you. You can study the programme either for one year (full-time) or two years (part-time), and your lessons will take place in the afternoon or evening. This course is also suitable if you're a graduate who hasn't studied business analytics before. It involves working with numbers and figures, so having previous experience with these kinds of skills would be helpful. If you haven't studied statistics before, don't worry, as there will be a short introductory course to get you up to speed.
Learning methods include lectures, seminars, and hands-on lab sessions with real-world datasets. Assessment is based on coursework, reports, group work, presentations, and a final project, ensuring theoretical understanding and practical application.
