BBA Culinary Industry Management

Course Overview

This unique BBA programme provides a strong foundation in culinary techniques and project management skills essential for managing food businesses. Jointly offered by Birkbeck, University of London, and Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute, the course includes an internship component, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting. 

This course focuses on developing crucial skills in research, presentation, and system implementation, all highly relevant to the dynamic food industry. The programme is available full-time, with options for a Foundation Year. Classes are conveniently scheduled during the daytime or evening to accommodate diverse student needs. 

Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, practical classes, and tutorials, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience. Assessment includes examinations (with practical components for culinary modules), coursework (essays, case studies, presentations, and group work), in-class tests, and a final research project to showcase students' comprehensive understanding.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement discussing their reasons for applying and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CVs along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • For the 3-year full-time programme, applicants typically need 96-112 UCAS points, which is equivalent to A-levels CCC-BBC, or provide a BTEC Extended Diploma at MPP, BTEC Diploma at MM, T Levels, or International Baccalaureate. A-level equivalent international qualifications are also accepted.

English Proficiency:

Applicants whose first language is not English are required to achieve an IELTS Academic Test score of 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in each sub-test) or provide equivalent TOEFL or PTE scores.

Cost of Study

For the 2025-26 academic year, the tuition fee is £18,060 per year for full-time international students. Additional costs to consider include travel, books, stationery, and specific culinary equipment (uniform, manuals, knives), which are estimated to be between £515 - 555.

Birkbeck University of London provides various scholarships for international students, including the Global Future Scholarship and the Birkbeck International Excellence Scholarships.
