PhD Psychology
Course overview
The PhD (Doctorate) in Psychology is the highest academic qualification and is designed to create expert researchers in psychology. The goal of the PhD Psychology at Bangor University is for students to produce research of internationally publishable quality, significantly adding to academic knowledge in their chosen field.
This programme allows students to specialise in major areas like Social Neuroscience, Clinical and Health Psychology, and Language and Thinking. The normal length of study is three years full-time or five years part-time. They will work very closely with an assigned supervisor and get to use advanced equipment like brain scanning machines (MRI and EEG).
Entry requirements
Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CVs along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience. A crucial first step is to identify and contact a potential supervisor whose research interests match their own, before applying for admission.
Grade Requirements:
-
