BA Game Art

Course Overview

The Wrexham University BA Game Art is a skills-based degree for those who wish to have a job in the game art and related design fields. The programme looks at all the key aspects of game art production workflows, using different techniques from 2D concepts to 3D production, including 3D modelling, sculpting, and level design. Students have the opportunity to work with game developers and enterprise students.

The course is focused on portfolio work, with no formal examinations. Students develop technical and theoretical skills through practical assignments and research. Assessment methods include the production of digital games, character and creature models, and game environments, as well as presentations. Students will have access to professional software tools.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

Applicants are required to submit an application that includes a personal statement, which should discuss their reasons for applying for the course, a relevant academic reference, and their CV to show work experience. Each application is considered on its own merits and potential to succeed in the course.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need a minimum of 96-112 UCAS Tariff points, and this can be achieved through various qualifications, including A Levels (CCC to BBC) or a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (MMM to DMM).

English Proficiency:

  • To study BA Game Art at Wrexham University, all applicants must be able to show English language proficiency, such as an IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.0 and no individual component falling below 5.5. They can also submit equivalents, like PTE or TOEFL.
