BSc Business Marketing

Course Overview

The BSc Business and Marketing degree at the University of Central Lancashire takes three years of full-time study, but there is an option to extend it to four years by including a 48-week industry placement. This placement year helps students gain work experience in a professional setting, which can be invaluable for their future careers.

Through this course, students are taught to understand consumer behaviour, digital trends, and global markets. They study core modules such as marketing principles, digital marketing, business strategy, consumer psychology, neuromarketing, and business futures. These modules help students design and implement effective marketing strategies, analyse market trends and consumer data, and apply digital tools for targeted campaigns.

The assessment methods for this programme include oral presentations, reports, essays, and group projects. For their final year, students can take up a company project to address a challenge or issue that real businesses face. After the programme has been completed, graduates seek job roles in brand management, market research, digital marketing, advertising/PR, and sales/retail management.

About University

Home to more than 42,000 students, the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) was founded in 1828 and became a university in 1992. The institution offers programmes in areas such as law, business, marketing, and accounting. However, UCLan is particularly known for its courses in fields like fashion, forensic science, and dentistry. 

The university has received a Silver award in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) for its high-quality education and student experience. Additionally, UCLan has been recognised for supporting small businesses and student entrepreneurship, and it holds a Bronze Institutional Award from the Athena SWAN Charter for promoting gender equality in higher education.

Entry Requirements

  • Work experience and personal statements are considered as part of the application process.

Grade Requirements

  • Candidates should have between 104-112 UCAS Tariff points at A2, or equivalent qualifications like T Levels, BTECs, and the International Baccalaureate.

English Proficiency

  • A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall is required for applicants, with no component lower than 5.5. Equivalent assessments like TOEFL can also be used to demonstrate English proficiency.

Cost of Study

International students can enroll in the BSc Business and Marketing course at the University of Central Lancashire by paying an annual tuition fee of £17,325. Keep in mind that this fee may still be updated, and there could be additional expenses that are not included in the tuition.

Scholarships

The University of Central Lancashire offers several scholarships and bursaries for international students. For new students in the 2025/26 academic year, a £1,000 international bursary is automatically awarded each year to help defray tuition costs. Exceptional athletes competing in BUCS or para sports may also apply for sports scholarships, which offer £500 (bronze), £2,000 (silver), or up to £5,000 (gold). Additionally, the Excellence Scholarship provides roughly £3,500 per year, and is automatically gifted to students with strong academic backgrounds.
