The BEng Engineering Design and Manufacture (Electronic) at Heriot-Watt University is a four-year Graduate Apprenticeship programme that combines employment and study. It is designed for those seeking roles in design, manufacturing, consultancy, operations or project management.
The course covers important learning areas such as engineering design and manufacturing principles, manufacturing with materials, product design, computer-aided design (CAD) and analysis, and electrical and electronic design principles. This will provide students with a thorough grounding in electronic engineering principles and their practical applications.
The teaching is delivered through a hybrid-flexible model of online and campus sessions; the assessment combines project work, coursework, exams and reflective workplace portfolios. Practical elements basically involve Students spending 80 % of their time in the workplace and 20 % on academic modules.
