BSc Professional Policing

The BSc (Hons) Professional Policing at Edge Hill University is a strong first step for students interested in modern policing, criminology, psychology, and the law. The course is licensed by the College of Policing and is one of the recognised entry routes into policing in England and Wales.

In this course, you will learn about the Criminal Justice System and how it works. You will also study how to manage crime scenes, carry out investigations, and support people who need help, such as children or older adults. Edge Hill University started in 1885 as Edge Hill College. It was the first teacher training college in England that was not linked to any religion and was only for women. It was first based in the Edge Hill area of Liverpool, but later moved to its main campus in Ormskirk, where it is today.

Edge Hill University focuses on giving students a good education and helping them prepare for their future careers. The university is organised into three main areas: the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine, and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Students can choose from many courses—over 100 for undergraduate students and more than 50 for postgraduate students. These courses are designed to be interesting, prepare students for real-life work, and teach useful skills that employers look for. Lessons are taught through a mix of lectures, group discussions, one-on-one sessions, and hands-on activities. Many of the teachers are also researchers and have experience working in the field.

Grade Requirements: 

• To be eligible for this course, applicants are expected to possess a UCAS tariff score of 112-120. This score can be obtained through qualifications such as A Levels (BBC-BBB), BTEC Extended Diploma (DMM), T Levels (Merit), and Access to HE Diploma (45 Credits). 

English Proficiency: 

• International students whose first language is not English are to show proof of proficiency in English by having an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with at least 5.5 in each of the four components.

The tuition fee for the 2025/26 academic year to study the BSc (Hons) Professional Policing at Edge Hill University is £17,000. Kindly note that fees are provisional and are, therefore, subject to change.

Edge Hill University provides different scholarships and financial support to help students manage their study costs. One of these is the Undergraduate Development Scholarship.

This scholarship gives international students up to £3,000 as a discount on their tuition fees when they start an undergraduate course. Students who are eligible for this scholarship do not need to apply separately. The university will consider them automatically when they apply for a course.
