BSc Computing with Creative Design

Course Overview

The Cardiff Metropolitan University BSc Computing with Creative Design with Foundation Year is a four-year full-time programme designed to develop computing skills with a strong focus on creative and design opportunities. 

Students explore the fundamentals of computer-based and software-driven systems, incorporating modern design thinking, and are introduced to Human-Computer Interaction principles for user experience and interaction design. The course equips individuals with skills to bridge technical and creative fields.

This degree holds accreditation from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, ensuring industry-relevant standards. The initial foundation year prepares students, especially those who need to strengthen their academic skills or are returning to education, before they progress to the three-year degree programme. 

Students have the option to complete a year-long industry placement between Years 2 and 3, gaining valuable real-world experience. Learning methods include technical labs, projects, case studies, and guest talks, with assessment by examinations, practical assignments, reports, and presentations.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

  • Applicants need qualifications such as A-levels, a BTEC National/Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma, a T Level Merit or an International Baccalaureate Diploma.
  • Applicants from other countries can submit qualifications that are considered equal to A-levels.

English Proficiency: 

  • Applicants whose first language is not English need to show they can use English well. This usually means achieving an Academic IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no score lower than 5.5 in any section. 
  • Applicants can also provide equivalent scores from other recognised tests like PTE and TOEFL.

Cost of Study

International students taking the BSc Computing with Creative Design with Foundation Year at Cardiff Metropolitan University pay £16,000 per year as tuition fees.

Scholarships

Cardiff Metropolitan University offers several scholarships to assist international students with the cost of their studies, including those progressing from a foundation year. These awards are often based on academic merit and are automatically considered upon application for some. Available scholarships can include the International Scholarship, which may offer a tuition fee reduction of up to £3,000, and the Undergraduate Scholarship, providing an award of £2,500. 

Additionally, a £1,000 Full Fee Discount may be available for students who pay their tuition fees in full by a set deadline. Specific country scholarships and the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship (up to £3,500) are also offered for eligible students.
