FdA Visual Effects and Post-Production

Course Overview

The FdA Visual Effects and Post-Production course at the University of Suffolk is a practical programme that will teach you the skills and knowledge you need for jobs in the visual effects industry today. You will learn how to solve problems and think deeply about your work to succeed in this career.

The main focus is on making films and television shows look great after they are shot. You'll study topics like colour grading (which means changing the colours), editing for different types of screens, and compositing (mixing 2D and 3D animation with other effects).

Visual effects is a creative area that mixes art and technology, so the course will teach you to be both technically skilled and artistically aware. It focuses heavily on 3D computer graphics (CGI), always making sure your finished work looks realistic and helps tell the story.

Even though it is a full-time course, you only need to be on campus for about one or two days each week. The rest of the time, you study independently. This makes it easier for you to continue working or manage other responsibilities while earning your qualification. Studying FdA Visual Effects and Post-Production from the University of Suffolk will prepare you for a rewarding career behind the scenes in film and television.

About University

The University of Suffolk started in 2007 as a joint project called University Campus Suffolk (UCS), set up by two partner universities: the University of East Anglia and the University of Essex. In 2016, it became completely independent and changed its name to the University of Suffolk.

The university is divided into four main academic schools covering courses in areas such as health, nursing, social sciences, humanities, technology, business, and the arts. Class sizes here are purposely kept small compared to older universities. This ensures your teachers can offer more focused guidance and individual help.

Additionally, the university ensures that all teaching and research are very practical. This means your studies will definitely equip you with the specific skills employers need today.
