BSc Software Engineering

Course Overview

This is a four-year university course about building software. It starts with a foundation year to teach students basic computer skills and ensure they are ready for the main degree. Students will learn how to design, create, test, and maintain software. Entry Requirements

You need to send a letter about why you want to study the course and other details about your studies. You also need a letter of recommendation from a teacher or your employer. You can also send your work history (CV) if you have any work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • For the Foundation Year, students need to have passed their 12th-grade exams. The university looks at each application carefully, including other qualifications you have, like A levels or BTECs.
  • The Foundation Year is good for students who don't quite meet the grades to go straight into the main degree, but are willing to learn, or need to refresh their skills.

English Proficiency:

  • If English is not your main language, you need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no section scoring below 5.5.
  • Alternatively, you can provide scores from other accepted tests, such as TOEFL (at least 72) or PTE Academic (at least 50).

Cost of Study

For international students, the tuition fee for the BSc Software Engineering with Foundation Year is £15,150 each year.

Scholarships

Buckinghamshire New University provides several scholarships to help international students with their study costs. For undergraduate students, the Vice Chancellor's International Student Scholarship offers £1,500 in the first year. There is also a chance to get up to £5,000 in later years for students who began their studies from September 2023. Additionally, you might get a £500 reduction on your fees if you pay them early.

The university also has a special BNU Refugee Scholarship that covers all tuition fees, living costs, accommodation, and even gym membership for eligible refugee students.
