BA Childhood

Course Overview

The University of Suffolk's BA Childhood is a programme that looks into the well-established academic discipline of childhood studies. The course also adopts a multi-disciplinary approach, drawing on subjects like sociology, education, psychology, and social policy to understand children’s experiences. This method helps students to study context and interrogate current issues and debates concerning children in local, national, and international settings.

In the later years, students can pursue specialised knowledge by choosing one of three distinct pathways: Disability, Health and Wellbeing; Education; or Children, Rights and Social Justice. These pathways include modules that prepare students for specific career opportunities, such as the option to work towards the Early Childhood Graduate Competencies certification or gain practical experience with charities and the public sector.
