MSc Medical Imaging Technology

Course Overview

The MSc Medical Imaging Technology at Birmingham City University is a one-year, full-time master’s course. It is designed for students who want to work in medical imaging or improve their skills in the field. The course helps students understand how imaging tools like MRI, CT, ultrasound, and X-rays are used to diagnose and treat health problems, thereby combining theory with hands-on training.

Students learn how medical images are taken, read, and used in healthcare. The course also looks at safety, new technology, and patient care. During the course of study, students will gain the skills needed to work in hospitals, clinics, and research labs. Also note that this course is ideal for people with a background in science, radiography, or related fields.

Assessment is carried out through essays, presentations, reports, and practical exams; meanwhile, some modules may include case studies or image interpretation tasks. This mix helps you build both academic and practical skills. Students are expected to take up a special area of interest and complete a research project on it in their final term.
