BA Events Management Top-up

Course Overview

The BA (Hons) Events Management Top-up course is for students who have completed a foundation degree or HND in events or a related subject. This one-year programme helps students build on their existing knowledge, focusing on areas like event planning, project management, marketing, and risk management. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an overseas residential trip and conduct an international research project.

Teaching includes lectures, small group sessions, tutorials, and field visits, amounting to around 14 contact hours per week. Students are expected to dedicate approximately 20 hours per week to independent study. Assessment is done through coursework, practical assessments, and written examinations. Graduates are eligible for a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Award in Leadership and Management, subject to an additional fee.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement discussing their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants should have completed a relevant HND or foundation degree in Events or Events Management, with 240 credits.
  • International qualifications equivalent to 120 ECTS in a related subject are also considered.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the university's minimum English language requirements, an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no less than 5.5 in every section.
  • Applicants can submit equivalent test scores, such as TOEFL and PTE.

Cost of Study

For international students, the tuition fee for the BA (Hons) Events Management Top-up course is £19,750. If a placement year is undertaken, an additional administration fee applies: £500 for a full year or £250 for a half-year.

Scholarships

University College Birmingham offers various financial support options for eligible international students. International students may receive £300 per year through such as the Kick-Start Scheme, and an additional bursary of early action scholarship, which can be up to £500 per year may also be available, depending on eligibility. 3,000 - £4,000.
