BSc Psychology
Course overview
The BSc Psychology at Wrexham University is officially approved by the British Psychological Society (BPS). This course offers students a strong foundation in all the main areas of psychology, from its history to the latest research. They will study key subjects like social psychology, psychobiology (the biology of behaviour), cognitive psychology, and individual differences. This prepares students with skills that are both specific to psychology and widely useful for many jobs. In their final year, they get the chance to research a subject they are interested in for a dissertation, with help from their lecturers.
The course teaches students using a blend of methods, including lectures, small seminar groups, tutorials, practical classes, and project work. As students learn to study on their own, the amount of time they spend with tutors each week will change. Their grades come mainly from coursework, not formal exams. Students will be assessed using essays, portfolios, practical reports, presentations, and in-class tests. If students successfully graduate with at least a 2:2 honours degree and pass their final project, they can apply for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
