LPC Legal Practice Course
Course overview
The LLM Legal Practice Course (LPC) is the main course that trains graduates to become solicitors. Its goal is to get them ready to work as a trainee solicitor and give them a strong foundation for a full career as a qualified solicitor.
The course truly concentrates on building the essential professional skills students need, and it also includes a Master's-level research project (dissertation). This extra work helps students earn a higher qualification and get specialist legal knowledge. Their work is judged through five practical skills assessments and the Solicitors' Accounts Exam during the first stage.
Entry requirements
Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. An academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their Curriculum Vitae along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- To be accepted onto the course, candidates must have completed the academic stage of legal training. This typically means holding a qualifying law degree (QLD) or a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL).
- While the grade requirement is not specified, students must have completed the academic training needed to become a solicitor.
English Proficiency:
- For applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds, the official university page should be consulted for the specific IELTS score required.
- Students should contact the Global Opportunities team to confirm the precise language requirements needed for entry onto the LLM Legal Practice Course.
