BSc Sport and Exercise Science with Foundation Year
Course overview
The BSc Sport and Exercise Science with Foundation Year at the University of Wolverhampton is a 4-year full-time degree that starts with a foundation year. The foundation year helps students build basic skills in science, maths and communication and prepares them for higher education. After that, students move into full sport and exercise science study. They also learn how the body works in sport, exercise and health. Students study biomechanics, physiology, psychology, nutrition and health promotion. There will also be opportunities to work with sports clubs and organisations and take part in labs and fieldwork.
The course is endorsed by professional bodies, including BASES (British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences). In the foundation year, students will cover modules that strengthen their knowledge in biology, chemistry, and mathematics and develop study skills. This year is designed for those who need extra support before starting full degree work. Students are taught using lectures, seminars, lab practicals, workshops, and fieldwork. Assessment includes written exams, laboratory reports, practical assessments, presentations, coursework, and a final project.
