University of Surrey

Course overview

The LLB Law course at the University of Surrey is designed to give you a deep understanding of the main areas of legal knowledge. This degree will teach you how to debate the law, analyse its application to given situations, and apply your legal understanding in national or international contexts. The core of the LLB Law course covers law as it regulates: the functions of the state (including public law and criminal law); relations between private individuals (covering contract law and tort law); and the ownership and control of property.

In the second year, all law students join a Professional Training Preparation module. This module helps students build key skills for jobs, complete a law-focused version of the University's Employability Award, and hear from people who work in legal and non-legal careers. Students get more chances to improve their job-related skills through extra activities that focus on client interviewing, negotiation, and mooting (like practice court debates).

All modules are assessed individually, and credits are awarded for the successful completion of each one. Assessment takes place through a combination of examinations, coursework, practical tests, and reports. Studying LLB Law from the University of Surrey gives you the foundation, professional skills, and accreditation needed for a successful legal career.
