BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering with foundation year

Course Overview

The BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Foundation Year from the University of Surrey allows students to develop skills in essential areas of engineering, computing and electronics. The initial foundation year brings students up to speed and allows them to build the technical skills needed to progress to the undergraduate degree in electronic engineering.

The Foundation Year is designed for students who do not meet the standard entry requirements. Such students may still be able to apply for this degree with an Engineering and Physical Sciences Foundation Year, which provides an extra year of study to help them develop their skills and prepare for university-level learning. On successful completion of their foundation year, they will be ready to progress to the first year of their BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

During the main degree, students will complete a written final project report and deliver an oral presentation in the form of a viva voce examination. This will further develop a student’s skills in planning, problem-solving and analysis, formal writing and presenting their work.
