Course Overview

This four-year course is a thorough programme designed to prepare future engineers for careers working on both aeroplanes and spacecraft. The first year builds a strong basis in key subjects like advanced materials, aerodynamics, design, space systems, and engine technology before they start the main degree.

Students get to learn from experts whose teaching includes the newest research. They will use specialist equipment, including modern wind-tunnel labs. To gain practical, job-ready skills, students can join student design teams like the winning UAS Challenge or the Team Peryton rocketry group. Entry Requirements for Nepalese Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement where they discuss their motives for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their past studies. Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants who have taken A-levels are typically given a conditional offer of grades CCC. This must include A-level Mathematics and one of Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Further Maths, or Physics.
  • Alternatively, those applying with a QAA recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma need 45 level 3 credits overall, which must include 21 at Distinction, 3 at Merit, and 21 at Pass, in addition to an A-level Mathematics grade C.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to submit suitable English language test scores. For this Foundation Year programme, candidates are generally required to score 6.0 overall in IELTS (with 5.5 in each element) or submit equivalent SELT test scores. All students must also hold a GCSE in English Language at Grade 4(C) or an accepted equivalent qualification.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for international applicants enrolling in the BEng Aerospace Engineering with Foundation Year programme is £27,000.
