MSci Biochemistry

Course Overview

The MSci Biochemistry degree is a five-year master's programme that examines the chemical processes within living organisms. It uses chemistry to understand and solve biological issues. The course has a strong focus on research and maintains good connections with companies, the National Health Service, and global partners, making it a fantastic choice for anyone interested in research jobs or a career in academia.

For the first four years, students follow the same curriculum as other bioscience degrees. In the first two years, they take classes on Cells and their Molecules, Organisms and Diseases, and Bio-organic Chemistry. They also learn key skills like lab work, data analysis, and writing reports in a module called "Being a Biomolecular Scientist." Later in the course, students focus more on Biochemistry, learning about laboratory methods and how to present data. In their final year, they complete a significant research project on a specific area of biochemistry.
