MSc Advanced Mechanical Engineering with Aerospace

Course Overview

This programme is designed for exceptional mechanical engineering graduates who want a comprehensive technical understanding of advanced mechanical engineering topics. It will help students specialise in aerospace, and they will also get to take classes in general skills like project management and risk analysis. The course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), providing a route for students to become Chartered Engineers.

MSc students will complete an individual project that allows for an in-depth study of a chosen topic. This can be an industry-focused project or one connected to university research. Assessment for the course includes written assignments and exams, as well as group work. The full-time course takes 12 months, with a part-time option of up to 36 months available for September starts.

Entry Requirements for Nepalese Students

Candidates are required to provide a personal statement explaining their reasons for applying for the programme and other relevant information about their studies. An appropriate academic or employer reference is also needed. Students can upload their CV to showcase their work experience.

Grade Requirements

  • Applicants need a first or second-class honours degree (or equivalent) in engineering or physical sciences.
  • A lower degree may be considered if applicants have enough relevant work experience.

English Proficiency

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to have an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no section scoring below 5.5, or submit equivalent test scores.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the MSc Advanced Mechanical Engineering with Aerospace for International students is £31,100.

Scholarships

The university offers many scholarships for postgraduate taught students. International students who are self-funded and start in September 2025 or January 2026 may be eligible for a £5,000 scholarship, which is automatically deducted from their tuition fees. There are also limited Dean's International Excellence Awards worth £7,000 and £10,000 for exceptional applicants.
