MEng Sports Design Engineering

The MEng Sports Design Engineering degree is for those who are interested in a combination of sports and technology. It focuses on designing and manufacturing sporting equipment. Students will learn about the tools and techniques needed for sports product development, using both digital and physical design methods.

The course includes modules on Anatomy & Physiology, Sports Engineering, and the Biomechanics of Human Movement, as well as various engineering design topics. The programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), and the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED). Students also have the chance to complete work placements and group projects.

The University of Strathclyde is in Glasgow, Scotland. It has a Royal Charter from 1964 and is known as a top university in the UK. The university's Department of Design, Manufacturing & Engineering Management has modern laboratories and a digital design and manufacturing studio. The institution provides both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in subjects like Medicine, Law, Engineering, Business, and the Arts.

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying to the course and provide other relevant information about their studies. An appropriate academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements

• For SQA Highers, the standard entry requirement is AAAA, which must include Mathematics and Physics or Engineering Science. The minimum is ABBB or BBBBB, which also must include Mathematics and Physics or Engineering Science.
• For A Levels, the Year 1 entry requirement is AAB–BBB. Year 2 entry requires AAA–AAB, including Mathematics and Physics.

English Proficiency

• Applicants whose English is not their first language will need to provide evidence of their English language proficiency. This typically involves an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
• The university also accepts equivalent English language qualifications, such as TOEFL and PTE.

The tuition fee for the MEng Sports Design Engineering course is £29,350 for international students.

New, self-funded international undergraduate students may be eligible for a 10% tuition fee reduction through the Faculty of Engineering International Scholarship. Students on this accredited programme may also be eligible for various scholarships and prizes offered by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
