BSc Prosthetics Orthotics

Course Overview

The BSc (Hons) Prosthetics & Orthotics course is a four-year undergraduate programme at the University of Strathclyde. It is the only UK course to hold accreditation from the International Society for Prosthetics & Orthotics and is also approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The curriculum combines science-based classes with practical work at the National Centre for Prosthetics & Orthotics and two four-month clinical placements.

The programme includes lectures from guests who are industry professionals and service users in order to improve learning. In this course, students will have the opportunity to work in modern facilities, including a 2D video gait analysis system and a computer-controlled milling machine with a robot arm. The course will equip graduates with the knowledge and skills that are necessary to work as qualified prosthetists and orthotists.

Entry Requirements for Nepalese Students

Applicants need to submit a personal statement and a relevant academic and/or employer reference. They also have the option to upload their CV to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • A Levels: ABB–BBB (including Maths or Physics)
  • Scottish Highers: AAAB / AABBB (including Maths or Physics)
  • Access to HE Diploma or International Baccalaureate: 32 points (including Maths or Physics)
  • Equivalent international qualifications to A Levels are also accepted by the university.

English Proficiency:

  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no individual section score below 6.0
  • Equivalent qualifications such as TOEFL are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The annual tuition fee for international students taking the BSc Hons Prosthetics & Orthotics at the University of Strathclyde is £30,250.
