Course overview

The BEng (Hons) Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde is a programme that prepares you for a fantastic career. You will learn how to design and build ships, submarines, and offshore structures that the world needs in the modern global trade, defence, and renewable energy.

Teaching is hands-on and practical. You will learn through a mixture of interactive lectures, laboratory sessions, and collaborative projects to solve real-world engineering challenges. You will use industry-standard tools and modern facilities that are set up the way professional spaces are,  where you will develop the kind of skills that employers look for.

The assessment combines written exams, technical reports, presentations, coursework, and group design projects. You will also have the chance to gather more experience through an industry placement or by taking part in competitions where you will put your engineering skills to the test in a competitive setting.

By the time you graduate, you will have both the technical expertise and the practical experience to start a career in ship design, offshore engineering, marine renewables, or many other fields within the maritime sector.
