BSc Occupational Therapy pre-registration
Course overview
The BSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-registration) at the University of Roehampton equips learners to become proficient Occupational Therapists dedicated to helping individuals to live meaningful and independent lives. This course combines theoretical learning with over 1000 hours of clinical placements throughout the three-year programme, thereby making available extensive hands-on experience in different practice settings.
Students participate in case-based learning, simulations, and practical placements to develop critical analysis and professional skills vital for occupational therapy. The programme is accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), ensuring graduates qualify for professional registration.
Practice placements are incorporated progressively across the years, and simulated and external placements, which give learners real-world readiness, are included. The method used in assessing learners is based on coursework and practice performance, to ensure students meet professional standards. The curriculum also aligns with NHS workforce strategies, focusing on community and social care needs. Students may be eligible for an NHS Learning Support Fund of £5,000 per academic year that supports their studies.
