The University of Portsmouth MSc Extended Reality is a postgraduate programme created to introduce students to the complex world of design and technology. This course teaches students how to create and work with Extended Reality (XR) technology through a specific project. This course properly teaches students how to lead and manage technology projects, and helps students gain the ability to move technology forward in the XR area.
The full-time programme will last for one year, while the part-time programme is available for two years. Classes happen one day each week (Thursdays), requiring 30 hours of personal study for full-time students.
In this course, students are mainly evaluated through written portfolios and hands-on projects, and they gain access to advanced facilities, such as a SmartStage-powered Virtual Production and Mixed Reality Studio, a Holosys™-powered Volumetric Video Studio, and the Centre for Creative and Immersive Extended Reality (CCIXR).

Grade Requirements:
You need at least a second-class honours degree, a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. If you have equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications, it may be taken into consideration.
English Proficiency:
If you are from a non-English speaking background, you need to score a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 overall, with no component score below 5.5. The university also accepts other English test scores like PTE and TOEFL.
International students taking the MSc Extended Reality at the University of Portsmouth will pay £17,900 as full-time tuition.
