The MSc Applied Sport and Exercise Performance at the University of Portsmouth is designed to equip graduates with the skills to win and perform at a professional level in both sporting and professional environments. The students will develop applied monitoring and testing techniques, practical skills and research expertise. Students will also learn about scientific concepts for improving performance and how to integrate common issues like inclusion and ethical practice as part of their skill set.
The learning modules include applied sports physiology, current concepts in sport and exercise performance, humans in extreme environments, MSc research development and practice and technology and performance in sport and exercise. Students will learn to assess and use innovations and technology to enhance human performance and understand how environmental factors affect work and sports performance.
In this programme, students will spend more time in independent study, research, and the majority of the teaching time is in-person and face-to-face. Students are assessed through practical assessments, client reports, posters and presentations, and projects. During studies, students can choose to work toward British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) accreditation as a sport and exercise scientist.

The University of Portsmouth awards several scholarships to international students. Some of these include the Chancellor’s Global Academic Merit Scholarship, which offers a £5,000 reduction in fees and the Vice Chancellor's Global Development Scholarship, which offers a £2,500 fee reduction applied to the first year of study.
