BEng General Engineering
Course overview
The BEng General Engineering at the University of Lincoln is a three-year full-time degree (or four years with the optional paid placement year). It gives you a wide foundation across mechanical, electrical/electronic, and mechatronic engineering, so you can work on many different types of projects.
Teaching uses lectures, tutorials, workshops, and a lot of practical laboratory sessions in the Isaac Newton Building. Students spend plenty of time using 3D printers, CNC machines, electronics labs, wind tunnels, and industry-standard software.
Assessment includes written exams, laboratory reports, design portfolios, individual and group presentations, practical tests, computer assignments, and the final-year project. Marks always come from a mixture of coursework and exams.
The degree is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). It fully meets the academic requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status and partly meets the requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
