BEng Biomedical Engineering
Course overview
The BEng Biomedical Engineering at Lincoln is a 3-year full-time course that combines Engineering, Medicine, and Biology to prepare students to design and deliver solutions that improve human health. The programme is research-informed and covers modules such as Design Challenge for Engineers, Materials and Methods of Manufacture, Biomaterials, and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
Students will study foundational engineering principles, human anatomy and physiology, and then move into specialised biomedical engineering topics. The course uses project-based learning, where students work in teams on engineering projects. Additionally, there is an optional year of industry placement that allows students to gain practical experience working in the industry.
Exams, practical reports, project portfolios, individual and group presentations, group and individual project work, and computer-based assessments are used to evaluate students. The course is delivered through classroom lectures, lab sessions, design challenges, and business innovation and entrepreneurial activities. Students benefit from the University’s specialised, purpose-built facilities and equipment, as well as regular visits from experienced engineers and industry experts.
