BSc Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation

University of Kent

Course overview

The BSc Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at the University of Kent provides essential training in finding, treating, and preventing injuries to muscles and joints in all people, from casual exercisers to professional athletes. The curriculum focuses on core areas like the mechanics of human movement (Functional Anatomy), how the body works (Human Physiology), hands-on treatments, and key clinical techniques. This programme is officially approved by the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators (BASRaT), and students must complete a mandatory minimum of 400 hours of professional placement in settings like sports teams or clinics, ensuring they gain supervised, practical experience.

The course uses a blend of learning methods, combining standard classroom teaching (like lectures and group chats) with lots of practical work in specialist areas, such as the Strength and Conditioning Lab and clinics. Students' learning is assessed using methods that reflect the job, including practical exams, case studies, and presentations, which test their key knowledge and problem-solving skills. Importantly, workplace skills are woven into the programme, making sure graduates have the expert knowledge and confidence to help people return to being active and healthy.
