BSc Psychology with Year in Abroad
Course overview
The four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a Year Abroad at the University of Kent is approved by the British Psychological Society (BPS). It teaches you the essential foundations for a professional career in psychology and helps to address the current shortage of psychologists in the UK, particularly in mental health.
The University of Kent is known globally for its Psychology department. You will learn from famous experts who specialise in areas such as moral behaviour, how people trust smart computer systems, why conspiracy theories exist, how children learn language, and how the brain works. You will learn the basics of data and statistics, which are vital for understanding psychology. The most important part of the course is the Year Abroad, where you spend your third year studying at one of the partner universities in Europe. This time away gives you a great international experience.
Throughout the BSc Psychology with Year Abroad at the University of Kent, you will learn core psychology principles in lectures, deepen your understanding through small group discussion in seminars, and apply your learning with practical teaching and workshops, including lab work on statistical problems. Assessment methods are designed to reflect the professional activities and skills you will need as a psychologist, and they vary depending on the module. They could include presentations, portfolios, intervention proposals, posters, and policy briefs.
