MSc Midwifery

University of HullCottingham Road, Hull, HU6 7RX

Course overview

This is a three-year Master's degree that is fully approved for anyone with an undergraduate degree in any subject who wants to become a qualified midwife. The MSc Midwifery at the University of Hull is split exactly in half: 50% of students' time is spent in classes learning the theory, and the other 50% is spent in clinical placements (like hospitals), so students get strong skills and experience.

Students will learn how to care for women and families throughout pregnancy, labour, and the early postnatal period, building the confidence to make a difference in these critical times. Learning happens at the £28-million Health Campus (featuring a simulated birthing unit) and through placements in local NHS Trusts. Assessment involves academic tasks, such as written assignments and examinations, alongside continuous Midwifery Ongoing Record of Achievement (MORA) assessments in practice.
