BA Graphic and Digital Design

University of Greenwich

Course overview

The BA Graphic and Digital Design (with Sandwich) at the University of Greenwich is an undergraduate degree designed to build strong creative and technical skills for modern design practice. The course explores how visual ideas are developed, refined, and communicated across print and digital platforms. The study begins with core design principles and develops towards applied professional work. Students are also introduced to digital design tools and learn how ideas move from concept to finished outcome. As the course progresses, students focus on digital design, branding, user experience, and visual storytelling. Projects are based on real design tasks to reflect professional practice.

The sandwich year takes place in the third year of study. During this year, students work full-time in a design-related role. The course focuses on visual communication, digital tools, and design practice. It prepares students for roles in graphic and digital design across many sectors. The programme is delivered over four years of full-time study, including one sandwich placement year. In the final year, students complete advanced design modules and a major project.  Students are taught using studio teaching, digital workshops, and online resources. Assessment is carried out through design projects, portfolios, written reflections, presentations, and practical submissions. Assessment focuses on creativity, clarity, and technical skill.
