BSc Psychology with Child Development
Course overview
The BSc Psychology with Child Development (with Foundation Year) at the University of East London (UEL) is a four-year full-time degree. The first year is foundational, helping students build key study skills, confidence, and subject knowledge. After that, students enter the three-year honours part. Throughout the course, students learn about how children and young people grow, behave, and learn. They examine cognitive, emotional, social, and cultural development. They also learn research methods, how to apply psychological principles in real-world settings, and how to support children and families. The course aims to prepare students for roles in children’s development, psychology, and education.
During the final year, students complete a Developmental Psychology Research Project, take Advanced Developmental Psychology, and select optional modules such as Addiction, Advanced Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, Psychology of Emotion, and Applied Cyberpsychology. Students are taught through lectures, seminars, workshops, group work, practical sessions, and work-based learning. Assessment methods include essays, presentations, lab reports, case studies, exams, and the final research project.
