University of East London

Course overview

The BA Psychosocial Studies (with Foundation Year) at the University of East London is a four-year course. It offers an easy, supportive way for you to start and earn a university degree. This course is suitable for you if you don't have the necessary high school grades, feel you need more preparation before starting university-level study, or if you are an adult returning to education after some time away.

The first year is a full-time Foundation Year. This year is designed to help you prepare. You will get dedicated support to improve your academic skills and confidence. You will also learn the basic key ideas and concepts you need for your degree. After you successfully finish this Foundation Year, you will move directly into the first year of the primary degree.

The course examines people holistically. This means it looks at a person's mind (psychological aspect) and the society they live in (sociological aspect). By the time you graduate, you will understand the complex ways different organisations work together (multi-agency working) and be ready for a career helping children and families.

In this degree, a range of assessment methods are used to ensure you engage with the learning outcomes. These include essays, plans, presentations, journals, blogs, portfolios, photography, and case studies. Studying BA Psychosocial Studies (with Foundation Year) at the University of East London provides you with a strong, supportive, and comprehensive pathway into this important job area.
