BA Criminology and Law
Course overview
This four-year course combines the study of crime (criminology) with an understanding of key legal rules and the justice system. The first year is a foundation year built to help students adapt to the necessary study skills before starting the main degree. Completing this year successfully means students are guaranteed a place in the next three years of the BA (Hons) programme.
The Foundation Year teaches practical skills such as academic writing, critical thinking, and effective communication. Learning uses a 'flipped classroom' method, meaning students prepare online first, then have active lessons led by their tutors. They are graded using a blend of written assignments, exams, presentations, and practical legal tasks.
