Course Overview

The BA Business Management and Entrepreneurship course at the University of Derby is typically a 3-year programme but can be extended to four years if a placement year is included. The course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and is designed to provide students with practical and theoretical knowledge in business management.

In the first year, all students study general business modules to understand key areas like marketing, economics, and operations. Students are taught core modules such as Marketing Fundamentals, Quantitative Skills for Business, Business Economics, and Developing Leadership and Management. They learn how to generate ideas, analyse markets, manage finances, and develop business models.

The course is assessed mainly through coursework, such as essays, presentations, group projects, and reports. In some cases, in-class tests and computer-based assessments are also part of the evaluation process. Students who complete the University of Derby's BA Business Management and Entrepreneurship course are well-prepared to identify business opportunities, assess risks, and manage resources effectively.
