University of Lancashire

Course overview

The BSc Computer Games Development at the University of Lancashire prepares students for a career as a software engineer in the games industry, with a key focus on programming and development. Students learn essential skills like C++, computer graphics, and artificial intelligence (AI), using modern software and equipment in the specialised Games Laboratory. The course heavily promotes a practical, learn-by-doing approach, giving students the support they need to build their own projects from start to finish.

The degree is formally recognised by the British Computer Society (BCS), which means it meets the professional standards required to become a Chartered IT Professional. Students can opt for a one-year placement in industry to gain real-world job experience, with opportunities available in the UK and abroad. Students' final grade is based on different types of work, including coursework, presentations, and their major Honours Degree Project in the final year.
