BEng Mechanical Maintenance Engineering Top Up
Course overview
The BEng Mechanical Maintenance Engineering (Top-Up) at the University of Lancashire helps students move from a foundation or HND level into a full degree qualification. This course focuses on building strong skills in mechanical systems and engineering design. Students learn how machines work, how to improve their performance, and how to keep them running safely and efficiently. The programme also includes key topics like materials science, thermodynamics, and energy systems.
This top-up degree is perfect for students who already have a background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering and want to progress into management or design roles. The course combines theory and practice to prepare students for real engineering work. Learning takes place through lectures, workshops, lab sessions, and group projects.
Students learn about advanced maintenance systems, mechanical design, and computer-aided analysis. Assessment is done through coursework, practical work, group projects, and presentations. In the final year, students complete a major project that shows their ability to research, design, and deliver a technical solution to a real problem.
