Overview
This is a four-year degree that includes a foundation year. It is for those who might not have the usual qualifications or who have a different educational background. In the first year, they will focus on skills like academic writing and maths, as well as topics related to psychology, to get them ready for the full degree. They must pass this foundation year to move on to the next part of the course.
The course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and covers the main areas of psychology. Students will learn in different ways, including workshops, virtual reality, and computer activities. Their work will be assessed in ways similar to what they would do in a real job, including presentations, reports, essays, and group work. They can also gain work experience through placement and participation in research projects with university teachers.
Entry Requirements
Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- For the full degree, applicants need 112 UCAS Tariff points, which can be achieved through a variety of qualifications such as A-levels (BBC) or a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (DMM).
- Applicants for the foundation year need 32-48 UCAS Tariff points.
- Alternative qualifications and work experience are considered.
English Proficiency:
- Applicants whose first language is not English will need to demonstrate their proficiency.
- The typical requirement is an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in any section, or an equivalent qualification.
Cost of Study
For international students, the tuition fee for this programme is £16,800.
Scholarships
International students at the University of Bedfordshire can access a number of scholarships. For specific courses such as Psychology, the International Undergraduate Subject-Specific Scholarships can reduce tuition by as much as £6,000 each year. The university also offers Undergraduate Qualification-Specific Scholarships, which provide a £3,000 annual discount for students with certain qualifications, like A-Levels or the International Baccalaureate. Furthermore, students from particular regions can receive a £3,000 yearly reduction through the Undergraduate Region-Specific Scholarships. A £1,000 yearly discount is also provided by the International Undergraduate Merit Award.
