Overview
The BSc Mental Health Nursing course prepares students with the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, safe and effective care to people with mental health issues, by helping them on their journey to recovery. With modern simulation suites and clinical placements, students are prepared to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and they are fully equipped for their nursing career.
The teachings and assessment for this course are designed to apply directly to professional practice, and they include written assignments such as reflective pieces and case studies. Clinical placements provide opportunities to apply theory into practice, and students will be assessed to ensure they meet professional standards.
This course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). It is also structured by NMC in such a way that encourages practice, which means that 50% of the students’ time is spent in hospitals, prisons, residential centres and service users’ homes.
Entry Requirements
Candidates are required to provide a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. Applicants must also attend a selection interview and undergo an Occupational Health assessment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and a criminal record check.
Grade Requirements:
- 112 UCAS tariff points, including 96 points from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications.
- GCSE English and Mathematics at grade 4/C or a Level 2 Functional Skills equivalent.
English Proficiency:
- IELTS score of 7.0 overall with a minimum of 7.0 in all sections.
- Other English language test scores such as PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT are accepted, amongst others.
